Apple Butter

I just purchased a slow cooker. I have never owned one before and now that I do, I kind of like it. It comes in handy. This is the first recipe that I did on it: apple butter. It is a marmalade rich in flavors. Have it with toasts, crackers or just by itself.
Bon Appétit!
Apple Butter

- 5 lbs. Royal Gala Apples {Cored, peeled and cut into small pieces}
- 2 Cups White Granulated Sugar
- 2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
- ½ Teaspoon Ground Cloves
- ¼ Teaspoon Kosher Salt
Place the apples in a bowl. Add the sugar, cinnamon, cloves and salt on top. Mix all the ingredients together until the apple pieces are completely covered. Pour the mixture into the slow cooker. Cook on high for 1 hour. Stir with a wooden spoon, then continue to cook on low heat for 9 hours.
Spoon the mixture into sterile jars and fallow canning procedures. Refrigerate or freeze.
For a smooth butter, use a hand blender to dissolve the remaining chunks. The apple butter should be thick with a dark brown color.

Did you stir it while cooking it for 9 hours? It looks pretty easy. Thanks
No, I do not stir the mixture during the 9 hours cooking process. I do mine overnight. Your welcome – Thanks for stopping by!
